FROM VALECDICTORIAN
TO VENTURE CAPITALIST STARTUP
AND COLLEGE SENIOR YEAR
By Franklin Okpala
COVID-19 definitely forced the second half of my junior year's last semester to go virtual. The pandemic also affected several internships I had lined up for the summer.
As the pandemic continued most of the companies: (AstraZeneca, Nucleus Global, Publicis Health, Ilere Healthcare) I applied to and had a fair opportunity of working with canceled their internships as a result.
Therefore, I joined a Venture Capital start-up, Quarrel Capital Ventures, founded by one of my friends. The company has four college students from Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University and Penn State University.
I worked as a Managing Director for their healthcare sector.
My job includes;
· Performing market research and run
appropriate risk assessment analysis:
· Developing investment strategies
· Managing Seed stage and Series-A
portfolio
valuation of sales revenue
· Identifying and pursuing equity positions
through seed investment.
· Consulting for Sweat Equity in
preoperative companies
When life changes your plans, always have a backup strategy ready to engage. An uncertain world calls for confident, bold moves supported by expert research.
Currently, I started the first semester of my senior year here at Universitiy of the Sciences. I now freelance for a COVID-19 testing kit manufacturing company as a Marketing & Sales Associate.
